Class: Form, Shape, Light & Shade (1 video)
(Part of Drawing Fundamentals course in Digital Arts trac)Instructor: Ron Lemen
A gradation scale is built to show a full range of values for the drawing. Practice drawings of a sphere and a cube are done to discuss lighting and placement of shadows. A coat tone is laid down first to start building value. A background is drawn in to give a higher contrast to lighted areas. In-depth use of the same media teaches more ways to utilize the media for a better picture. A proper foundation of value, lighting, and shadow rules is needed so that proper drawing techniques become habit for more complex drawings in the future.
