Class: Painting in Painter X - Portrait (1 video)
(Part of Painter X course in Digital Arts trac)Instructor: Ron Lemen
A portrait is painted using Painter X. A ground wash is painted in, then a rough placement of form. Vector mode is used to show straight line relationships and proportion. A side plane is identified to give depth and value. After a basic shape is drawn the painter will “flat it” or put flat color tones in to show where shadows and the general hue of areas in the picture. Zoom in to add highlights and use a smaller brush to add details. This Academic art exercise helps prepare the artist and sharpen talent for problems that may arise during regular work.
