Bio

I was a member with my usual email of rheta@cox.net but the web master wouldn't let me back in so I created another me. I never use g mail but alas. i got in by redoing me. Since no one sent me my password. No one would let me have my own email. i just reinstalled a new operating system to fix problems and lost my passwords etc. Am deciding whether Aperature2 is better than Lightroom and how Photoshop fits in if one switches to Aperature. I am a Mac user who has struggled with file management since starting to use RAW. Since IPHOTO works with Aperature, thought I would try it. Any advice. Long time Photoshop user. Been using CS2 with Bridge and Lightroom. Trouble was duplicate files. How to name edits, I backed up with CDR on import. But after that everything is on external hard drives. Which isn't too safe is it?

Goals

Learn one way to manage files and quickly give them ratings, keywords, and make DVDs and CDs which can be shown on a DVD on a tv. For HD now that is coming in vogue. I don't own a wide screen TV, but my family members do. I like to make books and slide shows from still images taken with Nikon D70, just learning the SLR thing also. Like video training like they have always had on pod casts and Lynda.com etc. but don't see much on Aperature. don't see how RAW is handled. Does Apple have its own version of RAW or does it use photoshop's.??? It looks like Aperature saves files as Tiff. I am using mainly for hobby, fun, family, so want to share , which means need to save in jpg.
